Houndoom is a Dark & Fire Pokémon which evolves from Houndour. It is vulnerable to Fighting, Ground, Rock and Water moves. Houndoom's strongest moveset is Fire Fang & Foul Play and it has a Max CP of 2,635.
"In a Houndoom pack, the one with its horns raked sharply toward the back serves a leadership role. These Pokémon choose their leader by fighting among themselves."
Snarl sports a tiny 1.66 DPT (Damage Per Turn) along-side a huge 4.33 EPT (Energy Per Turn), allowing it to charge up moves very quickly.
Crunch and Foul Play share identical stats(70 Power/45 Energy) and when combined with Flamethrower (90 Power/55 Energy), you'll be throwing out decently powerful attacks at a very good rate.
This moveset goes to the other end of the spectrum by making use of Fire Fang with its high 4 DPT (Damage Per Turn) and its meager 2.5 EPT (Energy Per Turn) in order to rack up fast damage. It's definitely slower than the Snarl variant, but it still has its niches where it can operate.
Houndoom sports an interesting Dark/Fire typing with high offensive stats and poor bulk. While this typing combination is not common in this format, it does give Houndoom a unique position as a Pokemon that can beat various meta Psychic and Ghost picks, while also being able to threaten popular Steel-types. Unfortunately poor bulk and a relatively vulnerable typing makes Houndoom a risky pick in the Great League meta. Flamethrower and/or Fire Fang is also not enough to beat Registeel unless Houndoom has either a Shadow Bonus, or commits 2 shields.
Houndoom's poor bulk does it no favors in this league, even though its Dark typing is favored against the meta-centric Giratina. Losses to Registeel and Giratina-A makes it difficult for Houndoom to be viable in the Ultra League meta, despite its decent performance against popular bulky Psychic-types.
Houndoom lacks sufficient stats for Master League.
