Ariados is a Bug & Poison Pokémon which evolves from Spinarak. It is vulnerable to Flying, Rock, Fire and Psychic moves. Ariados's strongest moveset is Infestation & Megahorn and it has a Max CP of 1,772.
"Ariados's feet are tipped with tiny hooked claws that enable it to scuttle on ceilings and vertical walls. This Pokémon constricts the foe with thin and strong silk webbing."
Infestation features above average energy generation, though its damage output is underwhelming, even with STAB. Poison Sting is more preferable due to its faster energy gains, letting Ariados take advantage of its charge move utilities much sooner.
Megahorn benefits from STAB and threatens a lot of damage if unshielded, but costs a lot of energy. Added during the GBL Season 8 update, Lunge is a useful addition to Ariados's kit, costing less energy and providing a debuff utility against the opponent. Cross Poison is a very poor move, even with STAB, and is primarily used to bait shields due to its low energy cost. Shadow Sneak is a pretty bad move.
Ariados competes against various other Bug-types in this league, many of which have superior movesets and/or stats. While it's improved from its prior state, it's still outclassed, and Bug is still just a fairly mediocre type. However, extremely fast access to Lunge and its debuff utility can be very useful in situations and formats that limit Ariados's weaknesses.
With a max CP of 1772, this bug is gonna get squished outside of Great League.
Ariados may be a spider, but it'll look like the size of an ant compared to the dragons in this league.
